Position Papers
Position papers are an important part of your work and research. You'll need to send your chairs a position paper on every topic in your committee as soon as you can, so that they know what way you intend to debate, and can give you advise before the conference. The following is an example of the style and length a position paper should be:
Delegation: Saudi Arabia
Issue: The question of renewable energy
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia feels that the issue of developing renewable energy is a critical problem with regard to the conservation of our Earth's natural resources. Though still dependent on natural petroleum resources, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is aware that relying solely on oil is a shortsighted plan of action, and realistic and alternative means of supplying renewable energy must be found.
To this extent, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has endeavored to replace as much of it's energy production with renewable sources as is possible. Wind energy is currently our most viable option, with potential energy tests showing promising results.
At the conference, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be determined to locate a viable alternative means of providing energy, whilst conserving the use of fossil fuels in order to extend their overall lifetime. The issue of the production of greenhouse gases from fossil is secondary compared to an evident lack of a truly alternative means of energy production.
